Issue 99 (Oct – Nov 2015)

It’s all about action as we trek the Simpson Desert on a camel with first-time contributor Katherine Quinn, scramble the West Arthurs Range mountains in Tasmania with Dave Cauldwell and bike ride across Far North Queensland with Fiona Harper.

Clearly, camping’s not all about sitting around enjoying the scenery as our intrepid writers demonstrate, however there’s a fair bit of relaxation going on too. Try lounging in the lake at St John Brook in WA, bathing in the bewitching beauty of the Gibraltar Range National Park in NSW or dropping a line in any of our fabulous inland fishing spots.

Issue 98 (Aug – Sept 2015)

You’re about to sit down and digest Australia’s best touring destination magazine, Go Camping Australia & 4WD Adventures. Queensland’s the winner this issue as we shiver through the bleak winter down south. How lovely are the pictures from Gary Tischer from his recent kayaking trip amongst the Whitsunday Islands National Park? Although the weather didn’t behave in the usual sunshine state fashion for Luke Perrier and his two boys they nevertheless enjoyed three days in the border country around Goondiwindi—I had no idea there was a rabbit processing factory in Texas—the Oz version as you’ll find out! We love learning at Go Camping, and John Algate is taking us through a history lesson as he travels James Cook’s often perilous route up the coast to Cooktown—dipping in and out of the coast and the captain’s journal.

Issue 96 (April – May 2015)

Our intrepid and adventurous contributors have out done themselves in this issue of Go Camping Australia & 4WD Adventures. Where else can you put your feet up with a hot cuppa or a cold beer and be swimming with whales one minute and trekking across the desert the next? It’s a great big country and it’s often said one can’t live long enough or travel widely enough to see everything. So, for those places you’d like to visit and those you have and those you’re going to, keep the pages turning. From the top to the bottom, new writer Karyn Fanous introduces us to the Daintree National Park in Far North Queensland, home big crocs, beautiful beaches and bountiful rainfall! The Cannard family and friends gathered the kids together to escape the summer heat and headed to SA’s Fleurieu Peninsula where they had a whale of a time and loads of fun.

Issue 94 (Dec – Jan 2014)

Summer’s here and the time is right … to go camping!
This issue of Go Camping Australia & 4WD Adventures is all about the summer family holiday. And we’ve drawn on the experience of a few of our regular writers that travel, with family in tow, to all sorts of places, for advice and inspiration. The Lohbaechers go epic and take the kids to Tassie’s Cradle Mountain and Seth Hartley’s given his partner a break and taken three-year-old Sylvia to the wilds of the Atherton Tablelands – solo. We’ve sussed out the best spots on the NSW coast to give the kids a surfing lesson, while Megan Blandford shares some tips on camping with toddlers, and I share a few on camping with the furry kids. The Biggs family tackles another four days on WA’s famous Bibbilum Track and Robert Norman discovers gold in Victoria’s Gippsland high country – what a great activity for the school holidays – as is the cultural experience of ACT’s Namadji National Park.

The Easter break is nearly here; a traditional camping holiday time and, for some folk, the last chance to get a way before the long cold winter. It’s a special issue for Julie Bishop and Regina Jones. They’ve been teaching us the basics of hassle free camp cooking for 10 years! It’s a wonderful milestone and we asked them to share their top ten camping spots with us to celebrate.Speaking of celebration, the Perrier family have reached the west and they share a few of their top spots in South Australia.
